The property, designed by Andy Coltart as part of the Black Barn river lodges development comprises a five bedroom villa set within Mediterranean-like grounds of agapanthus, vineyards, citrus, avocado, olive and cypress trees.The stunning views over the vines down the river and up to Te Mata Peak make it the ideal place to relax and unwind.
We want our guests to feel that they are in a home away from home at The River House. A 100 year old villa, the house is furnished with a combination of English antique furniture and comfortable modern sofas, accommodating ten guests in five double bedrooms.
The spacious kitchen and drawing room enjoy stunning views towards the river and Te Mata Peak.
The herb garden courtyard off the kitchen has dining under a large cantilever umbrella and mobile woodburner for chilly evenings whilst the large courtyard off the drawing room has seating for ten and an open outdoor fire. Both offer sheltered options for all-day entertaining.
The 12m swimming pool with covered seating area and outdoor fireplace is heated from December to end of March and is available when you rent the entire property.
The six acres of grounds are laid out with two large flat lawns ideal for lawn games, vineyard and orchard areas.
